Quick answer

The clinic carries influenza, typhoid and tetanus vaccines, and the HPV vaccine on booking. Bring your child's health record book or your own immunisation record so the doctor can check what has been given and what is outstanding.

Who usually comes in for a vaccine

Parents with babies and children

To follow the immunisation schedule, or to catch up on missed doses.

Adults who have missed doses

Many adults are not sure of their vaccine status. The record can be checked.

Company employees

Some employers provide vaccines as part of a staff health programme.

Before travelling abroad

Some destinations require or recommend particular vaccines.

After a wound or a bite

Tetanus status is assessed as part of wound care.

Older people and those at higher risk

Some vaccines are recommended for particular age groups or health conditions.

Vaccines available at the clinic

Three of the most commonly asked for vaccines are in stock and can be given on the day you come.

  • Influenza vaccine, for adults and children
  • Typhoid vaccine, including for food handlers and before travelling abroad
  • Tetanus vaccine, including after a wound or a bite
  • HPV vaccine, booked in advance as it is not held in daily stock

Why you should check first

A vaccine is not a medicine that can be kept in large quantities on a shelf. It needs controlled cold storage, and some types have to be ordered.

That is why the most efficient way is to send a WhatsApp message, say which vaccine you need and for whom, and staff will confirm availability and what you need to bring.

This saves you travelling a distance only to find there is no stock that day.

Bring your record

Decisions about a vaccine depend on what has already been given. Without a record, the doctor has to work with incomplete information.

For children, bring the health record book. For adults, bring any vaccine card or note you have, including from an employer or another clinic.

If the record is lost entirely, tell the doctor. There is an approach for that situation, and guessing is not one of them.

After the injection

Side effects that are common and usually settle on their own.

  • Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site
  • Mild fever or feeling unwell for a day or two
  • Feeling tired or having a headache
  • For babies, being more fretful or eating less for a day

When you need to come back

Come back or contact the clinic if a high fever continues for more than two days, the injection site becomes redder and hotter after 48 hours, or there is a widespread rash, facial swelling and breathlessness.

Serious allergic reactions are rare, but if one happens it usually begins within a short time after the injection. That is why staff ask you to wait a while at the clinic before going home.

Common questions

Which vaccines are available at the clinic?

Influenza, typhoid and tetanus vaccines are in stock. The HPV vaccine needs to be booked in advance. For other vaccines, send a WhatsApp message with the name of the vaccine you need and staff will confirm.

Do I need an appointment for a vaccine?

Not necessarily, but check availability first so that you do not come for nothing.

Can my child get a vaccine here even if it was at a government clinic before?

Yes. Bring the health record book so the doctor knows which doses have already been given.

Can a vaccine be given while there is a fever?

For a mild fever, usually yes. For a more severe fever, the doctor may postpone it. Tell the staff if you are unwell that day.

Can I use my employer panel for a vaccine?

Some panels cover certain vaccines, some do not. Check first.

Do you do vaccines for company employees as a group?

It can be discussed. Contact the clinic with the number of employees and the vaccines needed.

How long is the wait for the HPV vaccine?

The HPV vaccine is not held in daily stock, so it has to be booked. Send a WhatsApp message to book and staff will tell you when it is ready.

Still have a question?

Send a message and clinic staff will answer. If you need to be examined, just come in. No appointment needed.
